This method conserves the donor's cash while helping to avoid capital gains tax on the sale of appreciated securities. The market value of the securities is deductible in the current year's tax return. The donor should consult with their tax advisor.
If you have a life insurance policy that is no longer required, transferring the policy to the Pets and Pals Animal Shelter may provide benefits to both Pets and Pals Animal Shelter and the donor. The Trust would ultimately collect the policy value and the donor may be entitled to an income tax deduction in the amount of the policy's value. The donor should consult with their tax advisor.
The donor may list The Trust as a beneficiary in their will. The distribution of the estate is then made at the donor's death.

Your generosity goes toward the cost of care for the pets we have in our shelter. From the basics like vaccinations and medications, to specialty surgery for those like Yogi who, who came to us as a stray rescue from Animal Services with a damaged hip that required surgery.
Pets and Pals Animal Shelter is a community-based adoption center and our employees and volunteers are passionate about making a difference to the lives of animals in need and keeping them out of harm's way. The animals come to us for various reasons from strays and shelters, to changes in their owner's life that may include the death of the owner.
Whatever the reason, we take the animals in with dignity for those surrendering them and without vindication. After all, It's All About the animals.
